Question Extremely boring download speed simply normal upload speed

Hey guys. My download speed is extremely slow. like really really tedious. but my upload speed is ok. I just chosen my internet access provider and they said I seem to be getting normal speed which is fifty mb/s merely when I run tests it shows a ridiculous 993 kb/s download speed and a normal 2.2 mb/s upload speed. I take a ps4 continued via ethernet cablevision and iphone using wifi both indicatin very similar reaults. btw the router is huawei hg658c v2.
any idea what'due south going on?

Has the download ever been slow or did this just start out of the blue? Did you change anything around the fourth dimension this started?
I presume you take tried bandwidth tests from a couple different places(speedtest.internet, speedtest.googlefiber.internet, DSLReports, etc) and all prove the same result. Practice you have any other devices on the network that yous can test with? Assuming all device show the same issue (which I would expect since the PS4 and iPhone already do) and since your Internet access provider has run basic tests on your line, then I call back the culprit is nearly likely the router (or modem, if you have i).
Router issues tin can be software or hardware. If information technology's hardware, then replacement is the only real pick. Simple software faults tin can be corrected by restarting the router. The next step up is a factory reset (make sure to note any special settings, passwords, etc because they volition be reset). Hello once again. I recently got the router. it's new only the outcome has been effectually for a while.
I use the modem provided by the isp and I didn't alter anything. I tried resetting the modem but nothing inverse. I did test the connectedness using a dissimilar device but the result is the same.

ii Routers doing the same thing makes me wonder almost the modem (particularly now that i know you have one) ... have you ever plugged a device direct into the modem and tested that way? Nearly modems have admin page that you can log into ... have yous ever looked at that to see what your connection statistics are?

By all those metrics, your line is corking. It has to exist something incorrect with the modem or the Ethernet line you are using to connect to it. Inquire your Internet access provider what their policy is on replacing modems. I think they should do it gratis, but not all ISPs concur with me.

I guess that's my just option. and so nosotros agree that there'due south no problem with the line or the cables betwixt the principal box and my router. it has to be the modem. Thank you anotherdrew! I actually capeesh it.
